We're very excited today to be releasing our first beer as part of the FWD Program with @yakimachief and @yakimachiefranches today! FWD is a hop innovation program focused on brewing community engagement. We are 1 of 75 breweries worldwide to be granted access to the newest, not-yet-commercialized varieties and products in the hop innovation pipeline.
The first product we were given was HBC 1176, a hop with an aroma profile of berry, tropical, citrus, herbal and woody. We wanted to try this hop in a Hazy IPA, so we decided to create a true side by side experiment. Our flagship beer Square Wheels is brewed with Citra, Idaho 7 and Mosaic - with Citra being the bulk of the hop load. For our FWD IPA we subbed out Citra and replaced it with HBC 1176 to see how it changed the beer and how the hop played with others. Square Wheels is the control and FWD is the experiment.
